Commanders Notes
I have been just copying and pasting my notes, but this month I'm going to write something different although with a similar theme in here. In the printed newsletter I am restricted to 400 to no more than 500 words. I really have trouble keeping my comments that short. I am very excited about our post and I like to let everyone know what all is happeing. We are a veteran's service orginazation. Veteran's serving Veteran's. Just what does that mean? Well you are the veterans that I am supposed to be serving. I am doing my best to do just that. I can't drive the DAV van because of my job. Someday I may be able to do that. That is one of the ways we serve veterans. Another is to see that you get the benifits that you deserve. But I think that one of the main ways you want to be served is to be able to have a place to have a good meal and maybe a drink with friends. It was not so long ago that we were not giving you that oppertunity. We had stopped the noon meals and steak night and chicken night. Hamburger night was the only thing that was still going on. Well it has taken several months, but we are back to serving you, the veterans of Post 68. In November we have a calendar full of things for you to come out and enjoy. On Sunday's I'm going to try something new. I am going to open the kitchen from noon to 6:00 PM. We can't afford to pay our cooks to come in for that long until we're sure we will be busy. But I can come and cook for you, and if I'm not busy, then we are not losing any money. My mom taught me to cook when I was a kid, and I enjoy it.We are expanding our menu to offer more things for you to try. We will have to Ribeye's to choose from as well as a grilled chicken breast. I know that many of you have never tried our full menu, because you don't want to eat in the clubroom and you don't want to eat in the Bingo Hall. Right now that is the only time that we serve the full menu. On Sunday's I will come in and set up a few round tables, take your order, cook your meal and serve it to you. I will do this from the last Sunday in October through November. After that long I will know if we can affored to pay a cook to be there on Sunday's. It's up to you. I think you will find that you can get an excelent meal at a very good price. Come and try it on Sunday's. We will also be having our "Pizza Night's" on Wednesday's. You will find that this is good pizza at a good price. This will be all you can eat and will include salad, pizza, pasta, and a dessert for just $5.00. I hope you will try it. On Monday night's I have to be at the Legion for the Boy Scouts. Since I'm there anyway I will offer to cook the full menu then too. However, this will be restrcted to the clubroom, because we have to de-license the main hall for them. I will serve meals from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
Come out and watch football on our bigscreen TV.
